Input
Read supported scanner formats
Convert any whole-slide input that the selected wsi-rs release can open, including supported SVS, NDPI, DICOM, TIFF and other vendor formats.
DICOM VL WSI / Rust / Digital pathology
wsi-dicom converts supported scanner files into DICOM VL Whole Slide Microscopy instances. Use it as a Rust library, command-line tool or optional native GUI.
01 / Responsibilities
wsi-rs reads the source; the Frames codecs handle supported compressed pixels; wsi-dicom owns export planning, metadata validation, transfer-syntax routing and DICOM writing.
Input
Convert any whole-slide input that the selected wsi-rs release can open, including supported SVS, NDPI, DICOM, TIFF and other vendor formats.
Output
Plan image geometry, route JPEG/JPEG 2000/HTJ2K payloads where supported, validate bounded metadata, and publish DICOM files through staged output.
Derived objects
Convert explicitly mapped QuPath GeoJSON into supported ANN, SEG and SR outputs through wsi-dicom-annotations. Clinical terminology is never guessed from class labels.
02 / Guardrails
Real workflows supply metadata JSON or FHIR input. Placeholder metadata is an explicit, mutually exclusive research option rather than an implicit default.
Use source profiles, sRGB fallback, a governed calibration registry or an explicit profile. Conflicts are handled by the selected policy.
Intrinsic and optional external validators provide release evidence. Passing those checks is not a claim of formal DICOM certification.
03 / Quick start
This research command makes both the placeholder metadata choice and the ICC policy visible. Use governed metadata and calibration for production workflows.
$ cargo install wsi-dicom $ wsi-dicom convert slide.ndpi --out dicom-out --research-placeholder --icc source-or-srgb
The command writes its complete set through a staging directory before promoting the output files.
